After an incredibly crazy harvest season in Brazil -with frosts, massive price fluctuations, shipping strikes, and container shortages - we're super excited to present Baixadão, the next coffee in our Brazilian selection. Introduced to us through coffee educator, journalist and roaster Juliana Ganan and her roastery Tocaya in Minas Gerais, we sourced this coffee through Cocarive, a cooperative in the Mantiqueira de Minas region. Produced by Helisson Afonso da Silva, Baixadão is one of the more famous member farms. Known for quality, at 11 hectares, Baixadão is a small farm by Minas Gerais standards, and this lot was completely hand-harvested, which is highly uncommon in Brazil thanks to high labour prices. Due to the high altitude and microclimate, Baixadão finished its harvest very late this year, harvesting all the way through the end of October for this season's offering.
