Introduced to us by the legendary Juliana Ganan, this is the third season we're showcasing Baixadão as part of our annual Brazilian offering. After all this time, Jamie, our green buyer, finally met Helisson, the grower and exporter, Hugo, on a visit to Brazil in Aug 2023. Here are a few key takeaways: Helisson (and before him, his father Chão) represents a family that started really small-scale and now are pretty successful medium-size entrepreneurs in the agricultural and especially the coffee sector. A fanatic about organic and regenerative agriculture - by completely eliminating chemical input - one of Helisson's proudest achievements is the renovation of his farms' soils. Representing that "typical" and utterly moreish Baixadão delicate caramel base highlighted by overtones of cherry and subtle but discernable tropical fruit flavours, this year, the quality is better than ever!
