With non-estate, single-producer lots from Ethiopia being few and far between, we proactively seek and jump at the opportunity of showcasing lots like this one, produced by Melka Gumie. Light and delicate, classic Yirgacheffe, the elegant shimmer of floral fruit notes make the perfect mid-morning and beyond winter warmer. Melka, alongside 500 local farmers living in the Hafursa Waro, Haro, and Hafursa Worabi kebeles, delivers her coffee to the Hafursa Waro Washing Station owned by Ato Kumulachew. Melka's lot was part of a project designed by the Hafursa Waro Washing Station to isolate and trace specific coffee lots to a particular type of grower. An area known for producing some of Ethiopia's finest indigenous coffee, Ato grew up locally and, as an entrepreneur, established the Hafursa Waro Washing Station to highlight the expertise of local coffee growers and build up the community.
