We cannot get enough of this coffee. Sweet, fresh apricot complements the juicy cranberry notes perfectly for an all-around delightful cup of coffee.
Producer NANO CHALLA COOPERATIVE
Varieties REGIONAL LANDRACES
Altitude 1850-2100 MASL
It's been a little while, and as one of the most popular coffees in the 2019 World's Largest Coffee Tasting, it's time to welcome back Nano Challa from Jimma, Ethiopia! Like one of our earlier showcases Biftu Gudina, Nano Challa, is another famous recipient of the Bill & Melinda Gates Technoserve project. And like Biftu, the washing station has an eco-pulper - a great asset because it uses minimal fresh water to remove the skin from coffee cherry. As in most of Ethiopia, most coffees grown in Jimma are organic by default and consist mainly of old, original landraces (varieties endemic to the region) with smaller areas of an improved native varietal 1274. Nano Challa now has two washing stations and collection points, and on average, member farmers cultivate coffee at roughly 1850 - 2100 masl. Tasty as ever, we're thrilled to have it back!
