Making up one part of our current The Filter Blend, Da Torre from Minas Gerais, Brazil, is one to watch. Produced by Alvaro Coli, if you picture the perfect Brazilian coffee to enjoy with your weekend pastry, this is probably it... Together with his six siblings, Alvaro inherited the farm, Da Torre, from his father. An active member of COCARIVE (our export partners), Alvaro has worked at the COCARIVE cooperative in Mantiqueira de Minas for many years and started experimenting with speciality coffee in 2000. Soon after, he started winning and placing in the Cup of Excellence (CoE). He has since taken over most of the farm from his siblings, with one part of the business dedicated to coffee tourism. This Yellow Bourbon lot is an excellent example of Alvaro's experimental attitude to coffee; his mantra seems to be, "Let me try a little bit, and we'll see; why not?"
