The idea behind our Sweetshop blend is simple: combine sweet and characterful coffee to create a fun, wildly complex and fruit-driven espresso.

This isn’t about balance and it certainly isn’t about tradition. This is about cramming as much fruit and fun into the cup as possible. We want an espresso that doesn’t taste like anything else.

Sweetshop - 1

Sweetshop kicks off the season with a summer fruits party! Nariño’s El Trapiche and Cauca’s Manos Juntas, two dramatically different coffees from Colombia, unite here for an espresso full of blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry notes.

The natural lot from Manos Juntas micromill brings complex fruit flavours reminiscent of preserves and ripe berries. Working with cherries from growers in Sotorá, Cauca, exporter Banexport owns the mill and directs the processing that gives this lot its signature flavour. Five days of fermentation in oxygen-deprived tanks and meticulous drying over a month-long period create intense yet refined fruitiness that immediately pop in this Sweetshop blend.

After loving the 2023 summer harvest of Yhon David Gomez’s El Trapiche, we were committed to buying from him (and his father David, producer of El Plan) once again. This December/January harvest is quite different: rather than the textured, jammy notes we saw last time, this harvest shines with floral flavours like rose and a pillowy texture. Both father and son have maintained their same processing and drying protocols, but ideal weather conditions during harvest allowed for more careful cherry selection and drying.
