Tasting Notes

BAKED APPLE/ CHOCOLATE/ CARAMEL

When brewing our decaf filter, we recommend a similar grind size as when brewing your preferred filter coffee method. We recommend a ratio of 70g of coffee / 1L of water, for example 35g of coffee for 500g of water. Adjust to personal preference.

If brewing using a percolation method like V60, we recommend agitating during the bloom phase followed by a low agitation of the bed for the rest of the brew.

Telila, but decaf! Our latest washed Ethiopian coffee features the peachy notes of the Jimma zone favourite and the caramel sweetness of the Ethyl Acetate decaf process. We selected coffees from our main Ethiopian partner, Telila Washing Station, for this Coffein Compagnie decaffeination. Earlier this spring, we cupped Telila washed coffees from last year’s harvest, finding them expressive, floral, and balanced - ideal for a mid-year decaf. By committing to 60% of the decaf lot, we brought this project to life with our import partner, Osito Coffee. These lots from the Genji Challa and Kolla kebeles maintain the style and quality of our Red Brick and single-origin Ethiopian selections, now caffeine-free and with all-day approachability. With a classic combination of chocolate and orange standing out in this decaf, it’ll have you coming back for more.
